RDS (Room Data Sheets) are used to capture the details and requirements of each space in a design. These are usually prepared by the client at the time of briefing (also known as architectural programming in the US) of the design process. They could be revised throughout the design process to reflect changes or to provide more information to the people who are responsible for delivering the project.

The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows users to create rooms (or space), data sheets using the Revit project. It’s a fast and precise tool that can be used to create sheet, elevation and schedule views. The tool can generate 3D plans elevations, schedules, and views of rooms or spaces.

The tool will default to the Room Numbering Template and Sheet Format that is created by the Revit Project. However, you can select the preferred sheet style and name by clicking the Tool Options tab. You can also click ‚Load Config‘ …‘ on the toolbar to load previously saved configurations which will replace the current settings. This helps reduce the amount of needed for manual rework for different dimensions and types of rooms.

In the ‚Naming: Tab, the user is able to select whether to include the chosen room or space name in the ‚Sheet Name text box, which is displayed to the left of the screen. ‚View Name:‘ specifies the text that appears in the title bar of each view, and the ‚View Increment‘ option specifies the number increments between each view once it is placed on the sheet. The ‚Spacing‘ feature allows you to control the space between each view. The ‚Exclude Titles from Estimating View Sizes for Sheets‘ option will stop titles from being included in the calculation of the number of views on the sheet.
